Taylee

Taylee is 8 years old. Born March 28, 2011 and lives on Toledo Bend Lake with her mother. Taylee has been raised by a single mother with a little help of her grandmother since she was 9 months old.

Taylee has an extreme love of learning. She was accepted into Johns Hopkins University when she was still in Kindergarten based on IOWA test scores and SCAT scores. She is currently completing her 3rd course with Johns Hopkins University for Gifted and Talented Youth (intro to algebraic chess, Chinese Mandarin 1, Chinese Mandarin 2). Her goal is to take advanced mathematics course next.

Taylee loves to read, be silly, do things with her friends, do competitive swimming, competitive cheerleading, competitive dance team, triathlons, 5K runs, soccer, softball, rock climbing, ninja courses, chess club, 4-H clubs, modeling, and acting. She is a nationally ranked swimmer. She has a true passion for all things aquatic. Up next is attempting open water swim as she aims to compete in 2020 Alcatraz Sharkfest Swim at Alcatraz Island, San Francisco, California.

Her work ethic and dedication will help her achieve any dreams. She has to drive 1.25 hours one way just to get to her practices after school. She knows the juggle of homework, meals, college courses, and singing loud sillily in the car. She’s 100% dedicated to being the best she can be. She gives all she can each and every day to make her dreams happen.

Taylee wants to be a Marine Veterinarian. She spends every summer in Clearwater, Florida at Clearwater Marine Aquarium (home of Winter). She attends camp and volunteers. She’s helped with rescue, strandings, food prep, enrichment activities, and data collection. She is entering into a partnership with Shrevport Aquarium for year round volunteering and learning. All of this will certainly prepare her for a future in marine science.

Taylee has had to overcome major medical issues over the years and has been resilient. She has won her battles with the medical world. She had a mass on her thyroid. It has been removed but they had to take her hyoid bone and causing some scar tissue. This mass was attached to everything it could and left her thyroid to be very low functioning. So there are good days and bad days with her energy levels. But she smiles through it all and you would never know the fight she has had.

I admire Taylee’s work ethic and dedication the most. She never backs down from a challenge. She has been a true joy to raise. She has pushed me to learn more just to keep up with her. I love to hear her giggles. I love when she’s telling me something new. I love being her mom. She is the best part of me. I love you Taylee Brooke.

I have recently began working with Taylee this year and she is truly impressive. Not only does she have an amazing work ethic and natural talent, she is also down to earth, humble and respectful. I look forward to being witness to all Taylee accomplishes! Truly an inspiring sweet girl! -Stevi Bean
